I4C defeats Quyon in first game of the Final Weekend Showdown (now with some details)

I4C Victory faced the Quyon Flyers in the first game of the Final Weekend Showdown tonight in Manotick. Due to scheduling conflicts, the game which was supposed to be played on Friday was played tonight.

I4C prevailed by a score of 5-1, with Andrew Putnam earning the win and Matt Greer taking the loss.

Victory opened the scoring in the top of the first. Kevin McGuire singled, Bobby Jack Hart pushed a bunt single between the pitcher and first base. McGuire scored on Joe Murray's single down the third base line.

I4C added to their lead by scoring three in the third. McGuire (solo) and Murray (two run shot) both homered to make it 4-0.

Quyon's only run came in the fourth. Shawn Laframboise led off with an infield single and scored on Joe McCleary's double.

I4C scored one more in the sixth to make the game 5-1 as Putnam tripled and was cashed to make it a four run lead.

Both teams will resume play on Saturday, with the schedule to be announced shortly.
