The Greater Ottawa Fastball League doubleheader in Manotick on Wednesday night saw I4C Victory go 1-1, losing to Stittsville but defeating Kars.

Info from Johnny Craig

The 56ers used the long ball to seal this 7-1 win over I4C. Darren Featherstone earned the win while Neil Cooke took the loss.

The 56ers lead off the top of the first when Featherstone hit a bloop single to left which he turned into a double. He then advanced on a passed ball and the throw to third got away which scored one for Stittsville.

Featherstone lead off the third with another single, moved to second on a Tyler Nystedt sac bunt and Scott Herriot’s double would cash in the second run.  Herriot then moved to third on Dan Jessiman single and would score on an error giving Stittsville a 3-0 lead.

The game was pretty quiet through the middle of the game but D. Jessiman and Dan Bradley hit solo shots in the 5th and 6th giving the 56ers a 5-0 lead.

I4C bats came to life in the 6th when Shawn Simzer walked, and then singles to Mike Money and Jon Murray would cash a run and get them on the board.

More from the 56ers bats in the 7th though when Nystedt doubled and Herriot went deep with a 2 run shot extending the lead to 7-1.  Stittsville was able to get out of the 7th unscathed and hung on to the 7-1 win.

Scott Herriot of the 56ers gets the nod as Caveman's Choice as player of the game for his productive night at the plate.

I4C Victory 2 Kars Aces 1
Info from Adam Fleming

The late game in Manotick last night saw the Kars Aces take on I4C Victory in what would turn out to be a pitchers duel. Andrew Putnam got the ball for I4C and Brad Porter started for Kars.

Things started out well for Kars when lead off man Nick Ellis walked to start the game. Andrew Putnam was able to get out of the inning with 3 straight k's. In the bottom half Matt McNish hit a 2 out single but was stranded when Porter got the next batter to K.

Both teams would go 3 up 3 down in the 2nd inning.

Kars was able to take the lead in the top of the 3rd. After a K to the lead off batter, Brad Porter would start things by reaching first on a dropped 3rd strike. Ellis then hit a grounder to short and I4C was able to get the lead runner at 2. Ellis would then take 2nd and 3rd on passed balls. He scored when Luke Severson reached on the second dropped 3rd strike of the inning. Putnam would limit the damage with a K to the next batter.

Both teams would go 3 up 3 down again in the 4th inning.

I4C would  tie the game in the bottom of the 5th. Dan Loney made it to third on a high fly ball to center field that dropped. The speedy Loney then scored on a passed ball to tie the game.

There was no scoring in the 6th.

Kars threatened in the top of the 7th. Lead off batter Ian King got it started with a walk. He then stole 2nd and 3rd. Putnam was able to strand King at 3rd with 2 K's to end the inning.

I4C would end the game in the bottom of the 7th with a walk off single. Dan Loney led off with a double. Loney then made it to 3rd on a dropped 3rd strike, when Kars threw to first to get the batter. Kars would elect to intentionally walk Putnam to try and put the force on for the next batter. Putnam quickly took 2nd to remove the force and potential double play. Adam Fleming then hit a fly ball over the shallow right fielders head to score Loney.

Caveman's Choice player of the game goes to Andrew Putnam for his 1 hitter with 16 k's and a solid night at the plate with 2 walks. Brad Porter also threw well in the loss only allowing 3 hits and getting 13 k's.
