Manotick 7 WC Electric 1

Manotick Lomor Printers defeated West Carleton Electric 7-1 in GOFL play on Tuesday night in Fitzroy Harbour in six innings with former Expo great and WC Electric fan Tim Raines on hand to watch.

Trevor Lahey went the distance for Manotick as did Steve Cavanagh for Fitzroy.

Manotick scored in the top of the second on a Cal Medynski solo homerun to go up 1-0.

WC Electric answered in the bottom of the second. Jeff Cavanagh led off with a single. Bud Hanlon laid down a bunt which was misplayed, putting runners on second and third. Adam Brown hit a high chopper to left field that plated Cavanagh. With runners now on second and third and none out, Lahey got out of the jam with two strikeouts and a ground out.

Both pitchers were throwing well, reflecting the 1-1 score after five, when three WC Electric errors led to a six-run inning for Manotick as they sent 11 men to the plate. Joe Allan and Rich Antunes both reached on errors to put men at first and second. Steve Edgerton then laid down a bunt that stayed just fair, loading the bases. Cal Medynski grounded out to score one, and Don Cox walked again to load the bases. Trevor Power then dropped the ball into centre that took a dirty bounce and resulted in a triple for Power and 3 runs batted in. John Lindsey's double to right scored Power. Jason Smith then reached on another error. Trevor Lahey's single to left scored Lindsey, with Lahey taking second on the throw to third. Cavanagh finally got out of the inning with two Ks.

When Fitzroy failed to score in the bottom of the sixth, the game ended on the 6 run rule.
